Cathi Bouton is the owner, producer and director of Visualize ASL. She taught ASL at the University of Alaska Fairbanks for ten years and began developing the CD as a way for her students to practice vocabulary outside of the classroom, allowing more class time to focus on using ASL.
Cathi holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics; a B.A. in Linguistics; American Sign Language Teachers Association certification (ASLTA Professional); and CI and CT from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
She is extremely grateful to have such a terrific team to collaborate with and looks forward to developing more CDs in this innovative series!
Cathi is especially interested in applying the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) model to teaching American Sign Language and sharing her research related to this methodology. She has presented “Task-Based Language Teaching and ASL” at numerous conferences and events across the country. Presentations can range from a 2 hour overview to a 4 day hands-on workshop to a full semester of intense analysis.
Another of Cathi’s passions is juggling! You’ll love her 1 hour presentation on “Juggling: An Art Form to Improve Your ASL and Interpreting Skills”. Approved for RID CEUs.
